White Clover, Trifolium repense
For years I have been mad about Red Clover, Trifolium pratense, and I love the scent of White Clover, Trifolium repense. The tubular bells of the Red are amazing candy sticks, which you'd see in sweetshops.
I have both Clovers growing in the garden. The Red are very late and haven't developed into flowers yet. These photos have been taken on our county council estate. The White Clover has just opened here and there in the frontgarden, where it creeps over the edge of the path in front of the house. Next month it will open in the backgarden, where it grows close to the wheelie bins and the composter, where the scent will surprise you everytime you feed the birds or use bins/composter.
